Wow! The 2 hour barrier has been an elusive barrier that nobody has ever reached in a marathon. The closest was Kipchoge himself in Berlin in 2018 when he ran an astonishing 02:01:39 (still the official world record), but no one has ever been able to do better. Until today! Eliud Kipchoge did the impossible on Saturday 12th October 2019. In Vienna in almost perfect running conditions on a 90% flat and straight course, the marathon world record holder became the first man to ever run 26.2 miles in less than 2 hours, clocking in a jaw-dropping time of 01:59:40.2....
